Just Us

This is a blog about Jeetu & myself...i know that seems so narcissist, but really - it just feels so good to write about "us"! We've been married for over a year now (D-day: 8th April, 2004), but we still have individual hysterical moments of 'i can't BELIEVE we're married' We're currently living in Hyderabad, India (pretty far from our friends & family) and continue to discover the ups & downs of being on our own, in a strange city:-)

Name:
Location: Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India

I'm a thirty-something woman, married to the most wonderful man on Earth. He’s kind, understanding, generous & loving (and sorry girls - there's only one of him) My life, ofcourse, is dedicated to making HIS, miserable - just something us "women in their 30's" do!

To all the girls I’ve loved before…..

Last evening, on the way home from work, I picked up a friend – Preeti, and a friend of hers – Neha, and we all came over to our place. Preeti is a recently acquired friend – she and her husband, Gaurav, moved into the flat next to our previous place just a month before we moved out to our current residence. Confusing? Suffice to say – Preeti & Gaurav are our “ex-neighbours” – a fact we feel really bad about since we all get along like a house on fire!
Coming back to the original point – we ‘girls’ came home, and although I didn’t know Neha from before, we had a blast. It reminded me of all the “night-spends” at my bestest friend’s home (Ansu, I really REALLY miss you), the crazy all-nighters at Malu’s place, and the fun “hanging out” with Shibani & Indu! There are so many more girl-friends that I miss…..Ashwini, Shonali, Charu, Rabia, Deepa….. not to forget all the childhood friends whom I have long lost touch with!!!!

It’s just different chatting with the girls – I can’t explain it, but it is! A guy just canNOT understand the seriousness of a bad hair day….. or the fact that “gossiping” about the neighbors is not unhealthy – it’s a pick-me-up. And how can one explain that dealing with the maids is equivalent (in our heads) to sending a man to the moon. And YES, there IS a conspiracy about the ‘maid’ theory as well – did the US really put a man on the moon? Did the maid’s mother’s uncle’s son’s wife’s brother really die for the 3rd time in a month, for which she just HAD to take a day off? Hysteria is something that we have worked hard to perfect, it is not PMS!!!!

Despite the fact that i love my husband & acknowledge that he's a really great guy, I do wish he was a girl sometimes (ouch!!!)

Defective piece....

Yesterday, Jeetu's complaint ever since we got married (that my parents have palmed off a "defective piece" on him) was totally ratified...... It started with 'my head is aching', went on to 'my gums are bleeding', cruised into a 'my neck & shoulders are collapsing' and ended with 'my eyesight is going'.....

Seriously, i went to the Doc last evening (finally, after much begging from my husband) and discovered that my retina is just fine, but my eyes are 'susceptible' to allergies!!! sigh...what else is new? Ever since i can remember, i have been allergic.... (to cooking, working, cleaning, etc. etc.) Anyways, coming back to the original point, i swear that Jeetu TRULY believes in his heart that i am a 'defective piece' - what with my faulty hearing, my perennial cervical issues, my "dentists' dream come" dracula teeth, my expensive occular requirements, and ofcourse, my world famous "sniff-sniff" cold which NEVER fails me when i'm on vacation! In all of this i forgot to mention my 90-year old wheezing which kicks in every time i laugh!!!! whew...! can you blame my parents for off-loading me on to the first possible guy who seemed willing to live with this collapsing nightmare?

I came home from the doc with blurry eyesight (they dilated my pupils & that was fun - i figure that's what the world looks like through a drunken haze). But don't worry - driving was a breeze as that's how the average Hyderabadi drives anyway - without worrying about what's more than a metre away from his/her vehicle. One just kind of "keeps going" hoping that everyone else will get out of the way....

Jeetu's doing afternoon shifts these days (he goes to work around 12 noon and gets back at 11 at night), which is a royal pain. I know...i know - he still wakes up before i do, and sleeps after i do, but i'm the one who gets stuck with all the guilt, na? so you guys should sympathize with ME, right? Imagine, i'm the one who's forced to watch all MY favourite serials from 7:30 to 10:00 at night - how traumatic to eventually win the fight over the remote control (it really IS traumatic when you WIN, but there's no loser:-( takes all the fun out of winning....)

Gotta go now....will be back, soon! Thanks, Rupak, for posting the very "first" comment - am glad you enjoyed reading this as much as i've enjoyed putting it together!!!!

Together

This is both of us, posting together for the very FIRST time (i DO hope Jeetu posts on this site every once in a while on his own, as well). I just showed him the site and he loved it (am sooooo glad!)

He's sitting beside me, patting me on my back & kissing my arm. Reminds me of Zack - my dog, but...oh, well... (just as i am writing this, he has started licking my shoulder......) Now he's feeling sorry about the whole thing as "he doesn't know what else to write"

Okay, i'm taking over again. Let me tell you about this morning - we had a fight before we left for work. While i won't go into the specifics (as i will then be required to hang my head & be ashamed of myself), let me just say that it is VERY frustrating being married to a calm, easy-going, no-chip-on-the-shoulder kind of guy! Okay, i know it might sound crazy, but the honest truth is that sometimes i just cannot stand the fact that he doesn't know how to 'manipulate' me! (do i sound like a complete nut case?) But it's true - how irritating to KNOW that an argument could have been avoided if he'd just pushed the right buttons???? So much for truth & honesty....eyugh...!!!

First day....first post

This seems crazy......i am finally trying something i've been wanting to do for
A-G-E-S!!! Creating a blog (!!!!)

Totally inspired by numerous interesting blogs, have decided to finally take the plunge and attempt to re-create the childhood habit of maintaining a secret diary. "SECRET" diary? on the net? Wow! Am i stupid, or what?
Anyways, the fact is that in this new-age, with a life revolving around the computer, i've turned into a lazy bum whose fingers turn to mush everytime i try & use a pen to write stuff! This way i'm hoping to atleast have on record, some moments of "our" life (Jeetu & mine) - happy AND sad! So, in effect, this blog is in honour of "us" - JUST US!

Jeetu keeps a journal where he pens dopwn his thoughts & feelings fairly often - well, this is my REVENGE!!! for the whole world to see (oh, and if he's writing nice things about me, then ofcourse this is a 'return gift';-)
